Time to Chug-a-lug with the Rantouls
Jul 30, 2008 at 11:47 PM
Hot off the presses, the first release by Sunnyvale, California's only remaining Bubblegum band, the Rantouls. These four songs will get so stuck in your head that you'll be playing Chug-A-Lug over and over and over again. Get ready to buy a new record needle!
And if you haven't been lucky enough to see the Rantouls' matching outfits in person, you should definitely grab a copy of The Psychedelic Freakout DVD. Its got both a live performance and a music video by the Rantouls with performances by other Bay Area favorites.

Dreamdate spotted at CMJ in New York?
Oct 22, 2007 at 2:50 AM
No, no, Dreamdate wasn't in New York last week. Instead, Anna and Yea-Ming were cooling-out and watching the Traditional Fools play a surprise set at Carlos' house party in Oakland. But Mates of State brought Dreamdate to a city of 10 trillion people with their cover of Why Don't You Make Me?.
Check out a video of Mates of State covering Dreamdate.

Traditional Fools 7" Still Available
Jul 11, 2007 at 11:47 AM
Believe it or not, several Traditional Fools records survived the record release party last Sunday. The Rantouls, No Bunny, and the Okmoniks were gettin' the crowd anxious for a crazy, beer-soaked set by the Traditional Fools. Wanna see pictures from the show?
And here is a reminder to check out the Fools' "Street Surfin'" video if you haven't seen it.

Dreamdate at Amoeba and Traditional Fools 7" at the presses
May 15, 2007 at 10:48 PM
Dreamdate has been cordially invited to get fucking crazy at an Amoeba in-store performance. Will they live up to their "bad girl" reputations? Or will they instead shower the audience with sugary sweet pop melodies? You'll have to head to Amoeba on June 1st to find out.
And just about the time of that show, Chocolate Covered Records should have our hands on our second release - a 7" by the Traditional Fools. The mailman handed us the test pressings today and we are thinking we need to up our order to 100,000 of these babies. This one is going gold, for sure!
And don't you dare forget Zebratron.
Dreamdate made it back from tour, so why not take photos?
Apr 9, 2007 at 1:23 AM
Dreamdate celebrated their return home for their West Coast tour with Bay Area friends the Pets and the Rantouls. Take a look at the photos and listen to the Pets rockin' along with our other MP3s.
And if you think Chocolate Covered Records needs a better photographer, you are right! Sign up today to put me out of my misery!
Dreamdate beats Hell's Angels for "Coolest" in Oakland!
Mar 31, 2007 at 3:45 AM
If you aren't a Hell's Angel, the Dreamdate CD release show at the Uptown was the place to be on Friday night. The Traditional Fools played a double set, Social Studies had the indie drones swaying to every song, Harold Ray's mustache absorbed enough upper lip sweat to make a Brazilian rain forest jealous, and Dreamdate left the show with dozens of boys' phone numbers in hand.
Couldn't make it and terrified you missed something awesome? Wanna tell your friends you were there? Fear not! Harley ridin' leather daddies and Friday night movie watchers can still check out some of last night's photos and listen to Dreamdate playing live in our MP3 section. And if you need stories to prove you were there, it'll all be in Chocolate Covered Magazine #2. In the meantime, pick up Chocolate Covered Magazine #1 and brag to your friends about seeing the Armitage Shanks in Alameda and touring the East Coast with the Makes Nice.
Our First Release!
Mar 16, 2007 at 4:38 PM
The debut CD of Dreamdate, that indie-girl-dance-pop trio that's found their way into so many hearts, is the first official release by Chocolate Covered Records. To celebrate, they'll have a full-blown CD release show on March 30th at the Uptown, followed by a brief tour of the west coast. If they're not coming to your town, don't sweat: Come Over Now is available for mail-order through this very website (contact us if you are outside the US or want to purchase huge quantities of CDs at a discount). As an added bonus for you digital CD purchasers out there, the CD includes all the MP3s for the entire album, plus a bonus MP3 track!
Music on a record label website!
Jan 3, 2007 at 11:35 PM
Music is always second priority here at Chocolate Covered Records. Our first priority is gigantic profits. And you, our loyal customer. Yes, huge sums of cash and customers with plenty of disposable income are our #1 priority.
So lower your priorities and listen to this live recording of Rock and Roll Baby by the Traditional Fools at Jeff's New Years Eve party. If you listen close enough, you can hear Jeff drinking a 40 in the background. That's what I call Hi Fidelity!
Now dig down even lower to a song from the Mothballs' Come Out of the Closet. If you already have this record, its because they have only released one 7" in two and a half years. Maybe if you spend a couple of thrifty nickels here at Chocolate Covered Records, we can use that bag full of change to entice the Mothballs into putting out another one.
Dreamdate full length out soon?
Nov 18, 2006 at 10:06 PM
The Traditional Fools aren't happy with their 7" recordings and Dreamdate finally has their debut full-length mastered after almost a year. Out with the new and in with the old. Go figure.
Exclusive Recording Contract signed with the Traditional Fools
Sep 17, 2006 at 12:35 PM
Okay, so the deal isn't really exclusive and the "contract" consists only of "my label totally wants to put out a record by you guys." "Rad!" But Chocolate Covered Records inches itself closer to actually putting out its own records with what is guaranteed to be an ear bending 7" by the Traditional Fools. More info will be coming soon...
And definintely check out their video.
[more information]Lots and lots of photos
Sep 7, 2006 at 11:07 PM
We have been busy adding photos of all our favorite bands including Gris Gris, the Traditional Fools, and lots more.
